Hello, my name is Gerard Pepin and I have been playing the bagpipes for over 26 years. My interest was generated years ago when I used to watch pipe bands playing in parades each year in Maine. I began playing with the Anah Temple Highlanders in Bangor Maine, in 1984. In 1990, I joined the Northern Border Caledonia Pipe Band, a competition band that competed internationally in Grades 3 and 4. I competed with this band for several successful seasons in Maine and Eastern Canada, including placing 8th in Grade 4 in the North American Bagpipe Championships, Maxville Ontario, in 1993. Northern Border changed its name to Maine St. Andrews Pipes & Drums, and I played with them until moving to Florida in 2005. I piped with the Daytona Beach Pipes & Drums for four years, and currently play with The Rosie O'Grady Highlanders in Orlando, competing in the Grade 5 band and in Grade 4 solo competitions in various Florida Highland Games. Piping is in my blood, and I enjoy playing for all types of events and activities.
If you have a desire, I can play at all types of events from solemn, to triumphant, to just having fun. The range of jobs I have played pipes at include public memorial ceremonies for veterans and police officers, funerals, weddings, installations of religious leaders, Kirking of the Tartans, church services, high school and college graduations and private parties.
